This is one of the most important steps. I would never say that your blog is “Ready to launch” without a lead magnet and opt-in form.

Most of the “how to start a blog” articles not covered this step. However, I would suggest you complete this step before launching your blog.

Why do you need a lead magnet?

Email is a very personal and valuable thing. People aren’t simply giving you their email address without a valid reason, without a lead magnet. Your only job is to get the email address of your potential readers and give them a compelling reason to do so.

That’s why it is important to build your lead magnet and start getting the email address of your readers from Day one.

Tips to create your lead magnet

  • Simple: Your lead magnet should be simple.
  • Specific: It should be ultra-specific to make your future sales easier. Pick a common problem that your readers face and provide a quick solution to that problem.
  • Quick: It should be quick and easy to consume. Don’t offer a 300-page Ebook as a lead magnet.
